The XPower Pocket Powerpack 100 gives you the power to keep on working even when you're nowhere near an outlet. Unlike other all-in-one chargers, this device doesn't just supply juice when you're plugged in. It's a 100W inverter with a detachable battery pack, which means if you're flying cross country and your laptop and BlackBerry are dying, you can plug both devices into the Powerpack 100 and keep on working.

Another thing that differentiates the Powerpack 100 from the competition is that you're not forced to buy special tips for all of your devices. It comes with one AC outlet to charge any notebook, cell phone, or other gadget and a USB port that can recharge your iPod, digital camera, cell phone, or PDA that uses that type of connection for power. A DC adapter is included for when you need power in the car or in the air (if you're lucky enough to be on a plane that has DC outlets).

In our tests, the Powerpack 100 provided 2 hours and 18 minutes of juice for our dead notebook (only slightly less than the 2.5 hours that the company claims). We plugged the laptop into the Powerpack's AC outlet and we were up and running. The inverter itself is tiny and slim, but the charger is bulky (6.5 x 3.75 x 2 inches), which adds 2.4 pounds to your travel weight. There are lighter solutions if you only need to keep your notebook running away from an outlet, but if you want to power two gadgets simultaneously, the Powerpack 100 is your best bet. Here's hoping that the next version goes on a diet.
