It's the most expensive MiniDV camcorder in this group, but the Sony DCR-HC46 offers features found in none of the others here. For starters, this model sports Sony's unique 2.7-inch widescreen touch panel display, which while nice, forces you to regularly clean the LCD of fingerprints. The camcorder also comes with a cradle to simplify charging and transferring images and video to either your PC or TV. The DCR-HC46 scored the best of the four models in low-light situations and seemed to do a fairly good job of capturing fast action outdoors, but video had a slightly blue cast. It can capture one-megapixel stills (the other models have only VGA capability), but the DCR-HC46 surprisingly has only a 12X optical zoom (the shortest of the bunch).
