DESIGN The ultra-thin SGH-T809 feels like a slider version of the Motorola RAZR. The outside sports a generous screen, Back button, and phone buttons, with the numberpad hidden under the slider. The MP3 player is buried in the Fun & Games menu and operates even with the slider closed. Did we mention that it’s super thin?

FEATURES With standard MP3 player functions such as shuffle and repeat along with advanced features including player skins, visualizations, and 3D sound, the SGH-T809 is more equipped to handle music than expected. It can create a playlist (called “musicbox” here) and MP3s can be assigned as ringtones. The SGH-T809 includes a 1.3-megapixel camera.

PERFORMANCE Sound quality is clear and, compared to other phones, the T-809 offers a few more thrills in its MP3 player. Even with the slider closed, it’s easy to listen to music by using the navigation on the outside to skip tracks and control volume.

VERDICT The SGH-T809 is the iPod nano of music phones: slim, handy, and capable.
