Today Google announced that it had integrated much of its services into a mobile Web page that's accessible from iPhones. Finally, iPhone users have an easy way to see their calendar, Gmail accounts, and more. Here's our take on the latest mobile offering from Google.

Where to Download

Have an iPhone? Simply direct your Web browser to www.google.com. Google will then load up a mobile login page specifically designed for iPhone users. Unlike other pages, you won't have to worry about pinching or pulling to get the new page to fit; it just works.

The standard Google page loads up first, with a search box for Web, images, local, and news. It's what's above the search box that's new and exciting, though.

Google App Interface

There are a few buttons at the top of the page that act as shortcuts to popular Google apps, such as Gmail, Calendar, and Reader. Clicking any of these will bring up the content in a snap. With a full signal there was a second or two of load time, if that.

Gmail Features

Composing a new e-mail message is just as easy, and the new page loads in about 3 seconds. Conveniently, it also provides a list of your most frequently e-mailed contacts, which we appreciated.

RSS Feeds

Clicking an RSS feed in Reader will load the full story in about 6 seconds with a full signal. Much like in the full version of the software, you can also "Star" stories for later or share them with others users who subscribe to your feed.

Google Docs, SMS, News, Blogger, and More

The final navigation tab is "More." Clicking it leads to a page of applications designed for mobile use. Here you'll find Google Docs, SMS, GOOG-411, News, Picasa, Blogger, and Notebook. We tried opening Google Docs, excited at the idea of being able to create and edit some writing on the fly. Unfortunately, it's read-only. The same goes for Picasa: you can view your albums, but you can't upload pictures directly from the phone.

Also Available for BlackBerry?

All said and done, we're excited about the new page for iPhone users. Just for kicks, we tested visiting the same mobile Web address on a BlackBerry and found that it wasn't available. Check it out if you own an iPhone; we love it.
