Toshiba Announces Six New Notebooks

Features found in Toshiba's latest laptops include big-screens, 802.11n, and value prices.

Today, Toshiba announced six new notebooks designed to give consumers value-priced access to big-screen displays and to introduce the next generation of Wi-Fi, 802.11n, into the company’s catalog.

The Toshiba Satellite P205 series (S637, S6267, S6287) represent the company’s latest 17-inch (1440 x 900-pixel resolution) notebook line with a starting price of less than $1,000.  Each model comes with Vista housed in Onyx Blue Metallic bodies, and Labelflash technology, which allows users to burn high-quality images and text onto compatible DVD-R disc.

More specifically, the S637 comes with a 1.7-GHz Pentium dual-core processor, a dual-layer SuperMulti drive, Vista Home Premium, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi. The S6267 sports a 1.8-GHz Core Duo processor, a dual-layer SuperMulti drive, Vista Home Premium, 2GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, and 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi. The S6287 features a 1.7-GHz Core 2 Duo processor, a dual-layer SuperMulti drive, 2GB of RAM, a massive 200GB hard drive, Vista Home Premium, built-in Harmon Kardon speakers, and 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi.

The three models found in the Toshiba Satellite A205 series (S4577, S4617, S4639) feature the next-generation 802.11n Wi-Fi standard and Labelflash disc etching. All of them rock 15.4-inch widescreens with a native 1280 x 800-pixel resolution. The A205 series also features an optional webcam with a built-in microphone for videoconferencing.

More specifically, the S4577 features a 1.3-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of RAM, Vista Home Premium, a 160GB hard drive, and a dual-layer SuperMulti drive. The S4617 sports a 1.6-GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, Vista Home Premium, a 250GB hard drive, a dual-layer SuperMulti drive, Harmon Kardon speakers, and a fingerprint reader. The S4639 comes with a 1.7-GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, a massive 280GB hard drive, a dual-layer SuperMulti drive, Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 graphics, Harmon Kardon speakers, and a fingerprint reader.
