The world's first EV-DO 3G network. The world's first 3.5G HSDPA network. The world's first terrestrial and satellite digital-media broadcast TV services. The common link: It all happened in South Korea. This small nation is home to LG and Samsung, two global megacorporations that help define mobile technology worldwide. The government works closely with industry, setting a road map that guides IT development. Advancing ubiquitous high-speed connectivity (with WiMAX, among other technologies) is one of the current goals.
 
But how does mobile technology really affect life in this super-connected country? While visiting the Solutions and Content Exhibition (SEK), Korea's leading IT tradeshow, we took some time to experience everyday life in Seoul. Camera in hand, we documented how mobile technology permeates people's daily lives and tried to imagine what it suggests about America's techno-future.
