Sure, most cell phones have a basic organizer built in, but most of them don't come with a USB cable or PIM software. Download iPodSync 2.29 (www.ipod-sync.com), and you'll be able to use your favorite music player as a PDA. This $14.95 shareware program syncs your iPod or iPod nano to Outlook (2000, XP, or 2003) so that you can take your contacts, calendar, appointments, tasks, notes, and e-mail on the road. This program even delivers fresh news (via RSS feeds), local weather reports, and updated movie listings to your player each time that you sync to your notebook. While your iPod won't suddenly gain touchscreen capabilities for entering data, it can serve as a useful, space-saving organizer. Here's how to turn your iPod into a PDA:

STEP BY STEP
1.
Download and install iPodSync 2.29.

2. Connect your iPod to a notebook via your iPod's USB cable.

3. iPodSync 2.29 accesses the iPod as a hard drive, so if you're using iTunes you'll need to go to Edit, Preferences, and make certain that Enable Disk Mode is checked.

4. Double click the iPodSync 2.29 icon to launch the program.

5. The iPodSync 2.29 toolbar has the following options: Sync Contacts, Sync Calendar, Sync Tasks, Sync Notes, and Sync Mail, as well as News Feeds/Local News, and Desktop Files/iPod Media. These options can be used individually, or all at once by clicking on the Sync iPod button.

6. Power up your iPod.

7. Scroll down to Extras and enter its submenus.

8. In the Extras submenu, click Contacts to view your list of Contacts.

9. In the Extras submenu click Calendar to view your list of Calendar appointments.

10. Click Notes to enter its submenus.

11. In the Notes submenu, click eMail, Inbox to view your e-mail.

12. In the Notes submenu, click Web to view RSS feeds and weather reports.
