Having the ability to access your e-mail on a mobile device has typically been a luxury reserved for the privileged class of BlackBerry or Treo owners. However, many mobile users opt not to go the smart phone route based on price and added bulk. Consilient Push (www.consilient.com) provides "regular" mobile phones with a push e-mail solution, which means you won't have to manually check for new messages.
Giving users a single application for retrieving up to five mail accounts on a mobile phone, the program supports AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo, as well as any POP3 or IMAP4 account. With this single mobile app you can configure your corporate and personal mobile e-mail. Consilient Push also enables users to receive, forward, and save photos and view attachments. You can get Consilient for free if you're willing to put up with ads, or you can pay $5 per month for the ad-free premium version. The only extra cost Consilient is going to run you is the price of an unlimited data plan to keep your mobile e-mail "always on." The application currently works on a number of supported handsets, including several from Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.
